Our "Why"(we do this) ...

If you're wondering why a Foundation was created specifically to support Contra Costa Animal Services.  Here's why...  We believe that every life matters but also, that if we focus our resources we can build a strong network of like-minded people that unite to improve the lives of animals in our community.

Contra Costa Animal Services provides:

• A municipal shelter

• Programs and services designed to protect public safety and open admission animal care

• Animal control services funded by county taxpayers.

Although budgets focus on this purpose, additional programs and services offered by Contra Costa Animal Services are designed specifically to keep pets in loving homes and provide enrichment to animals that are guests of the municipal shelter.   Our Foundation provides direct support to programs and services that support Shelter Intervention and Animal Enrichment.

In short, we work closely with Contra Costa Animal Services, and business partners throughout our community, to identify and address the needs of pet owners and animals in our community.

Here is what we know... Our support has enabled CCAS to establish a pet food pantry to regularly provide pet food and supplies to pet owners in need, and to support people who care for unhoused animals in our community. The Foundation has funded and implemented shelter improvements designed to support animal enrichment while they are in the care of Contra Costa Animal Services.  We choose to use our resources to improve the lives of animals in our community.  Because every life matters.
